Saturday, January 9 2010 Repair workday in Bir- al-’Id Last Saturday some ten activists, Israelis and Internationals, went to Bir al-id in order to help the residents with local repair work. On this Saturday work was concentrated on two cisterns which had to be emptied of the dirt which had collected in them over the years, when the residents had not been allowed to live in this place. Saturday, December 12 2009 Access denied into Bir al’Id A group of activists trying to enter Bir al’Id were shown a ‘closed military zone’ decree and were not allowed in. Over the last few weeks we’ve been helping rebuild a road and develop an area of Bir al’Id. This area belongs to residents who were expelled by the IDF and some settlers some years ago. Saturday, December 5 2009 Road clearing in Bir al’Id During the day we cleared a mountainous road to facilitate access for vehicles and tractors. At about 13:30 a single settler from Havat Ya’ir tried to expel the shepherds from one of their grazing zones. The Palestinian shepherds refused and we joined the altercation, as well as the army and The Civil Administration. Saturday, November 28 2009 Shepherd accompaniment in Bir al-Eid A flock of sheep and goats led by the returning residents of Bir al-Eid with assistance of Ta’ayush activists angered the settlers of Mitzpe Yair who arrived within several minutes in an attempt to drive the flock away. Friday, November 13 2009 Settlers attack- Bir El-Id   Two settlers from Mitzpeh Yair attacked the residents of Bir El-Id around 9 in the morning on Friday. They threw stones at a herd of sheep, which scared them away The herd was pushed in the direction of one of the ruins beside the residents’ houses below which there is a drop (these Palestinians were expelled from the area in 2000 and were permitted to return just a few weeks ago). Saturday, November 7 2009 Planting, herding and settler violence in Umm al-Khir Today 13 Ta’ayush activists set out to the South Hebron Hills. One group accompanied shepherds in the area of the outpost of Avigail. The herding went quietly and upon completion the activists visited Umm al-Khir, where they helped in renovating a gravel road.
