Palestinian-Israeli demonstration in Budrus
February 27th 2004 The inhabitants of the village
of Budrus in the West Bank are continuing their persistent struggle
against the suffocating Fence. The Fence will rob them of their lands
and wipe out their olive groves. The Fence will turn them – together
with the inhabitants of eight neighboring villages – to inhabitants of
a closed enclave. Prisoners on their own land.
The Separation Fence is about
to constitute throughout the West Bank a rule of enclaves, causing
confiscation, suffering and hatred.
In a persistent struggle, the
people of Budrus, women and men, young and old, have proven that it is
possible to struggle against this suffocating Fence – and reach out in
peace for the citizens of Israel. “Our struggle against this Fence,”
said one of the activists in an interview (Ha’aretz, 11.2.2004), “is
part of our struggle for a peaceful solution to the conflict: founding
a Palestinian state alongside Israel.”
The people of Budrus are
defending themselves and struggle for their basic right to live a
dignified life – and by that they are defending our mutual future in
this country.
On Friday, February 27th 2004,
we demonstrated together, Israelis and Palestinians Against the
Separation Fence and For a Future of Peace and Justice for Both Peoples
Build Trust – Not Walls

תושבי הכפר בודרוס
שבגדה המערבית
עומדים בעקשנות במאבקם נגד גדר החנק. הגדר עומדת לגזול מהם את שארית
אדמותיהם ולמחוק את מטע הזיתים שלהם. הגדר עומדת להפוך אותם – יחד עם
תושבי שמונת הכפרים השכנים – לתושבי מובלעת סגורה. אסירים במולדתם. גדר
החנק מכוננת ברחבי הגדה המערבית משטר של מובלעות, המביא גזל, סבל ושנאה.
במאבק עקשני הוכיחו אנשי בודרוס, נשים וגברים, צעירים ומבוגרים, כי ניתן להיאבק נגד גדר החנק – ולהושיט יד של שלום לאזרחי ישראל. "מאבקנו בגדר הזאת", אמר אחד מן הפעילים בריאיון (הארץ, 11.2.2004), "הוא חלק מהמאבק שלנו למען פתרון של שלום לסכסוך: הקמת מדינה פלסטינית בצד ישראל." תושבי בודרוס מגנים על עצמם, על זכויותיהם הבסיסיות לחיות חיים של כבוד – ומגנים בכך על עתידנו המשותף בארץ הזו. ביום ששי, 27 בפברואר 2003 הפגנו יחד בבודרוס, ישראלים ופלסטינים, נגד חומת החנק ולמען עתיד של שלום וצדק לשני העמים. בנו אמוּן ולא חומות!
