Report on Rafah Donation Campaign – September 2004

This report gives details of all activities done by Khalil and coordinated with the different associations in Rafah ,in particular with the Destroyed Houses Committee members. It covers donations received since May 2004; total amount is 105000 NIS:

40000 NIS received in 13/05/2004;

25000 NIS in 03/06/2004;

40000 NIS in 05/07/2004.

This is Khalil’s report:

Since 18^th May I had started the distribution of food donations, drinking water and milk in Tal Essultan Quarter. The distribution continued to cover all places in Rafah city, Rafah Camp, Brazil Quarter, west and East of Rafah.

1.  750 food parcels were made of total 90000 NIS (100-120-130 NIS per each parcel).

The first 400 parcels were distributed during “The Rain Bow operation” of the Israeli Occupation Forces between 18th-23th of May 2004 in Tal Essultan Quarter, Brazil Quarter, Qishta and Sha'er area and Block "O" in the camp.

The remaining 350 food parcels were distributed as follows:

- 120 families who moved to three UNRWA schools and the sport grounds and playgrounds of Rafah after they had become homeless. Most of them came from Block "O" in Rafah Camp, Essalam Quarter, and Qishta & Sha'er Quarter.

- 167 food parcels were distributed after 25^th of May to the families who lost their homes during the period from 06/06 to 25/07/2004. 

- 20 food parcels were distributed to the Handicapped people (members of The Friends Association For Supporting The Intifada Disabled).

- 20 food parcels were distributed to unemployed workers as a working day salary in preparing the parcels.

Now we still have 23 food parcels, and they will cover other members of the Disabled Association too.

2.  268 mineral water boxes (5860 NIS in total ) were given to the people in 18^th and 21^st of May 2004 in Tal Essultan and west of Rafah.

3. 2000 NIS were distributed as children milk and dairy products from local shops in Tal Essultan Quarter in 21^st – 23^rd of May 2004.

4. 6000 NIS worth Pampers Packets for the disabled persons (mostly children).

5. 1140 NIS were paid to the transportation to carry the goods from Gaza city to Rafah and from Khan Yunis the city to Rafah.

Notes

I have received a CD from the Disabled Association, thanking Ta’ayush for the donation. I will send it to you as soon as possible.

I've got 10000 NIS directly from different individuals, and bought 25 children milk packets (6000 NIS), and also prepared 40 additional food parcels, which were distributed by the name of Ta'ayush in Rafah. (The connection was made via Ta’ayush)

All donations were distributed by the name of Ta'ayush, and we put stickers indicating this inside each food parcel.

My suggestion for the next donation is to prepare a special school bag for the students who were victimized during the Rain Bow military operation.
