Land-Day protest activities, March 30, 2002

The High Committee of the Arabs in Israel has held two main rallies
during this year's Land-Day. Ta'ayush activists joined
borh rallies, one in Kufr-Kana in the Galilee and the other in the Negev
at the protest tent near the Rahat-Beer-Sheva road, protesting the ongoing
harassment of Israel's Bedouin citizens.
The government of Israel treats the Arab inhabitants of the Negev as strangers in their own home. Having been deprived of most of their lands and suffering from cruel discrimination, they are regarded as land robbers who threaten state property. House demolitions, poison-spraying fields and crops and placing the "Green Patrol" under the auspices of the Ministry of Infrastructure, are all a sign of things to come.Ta'ayush joined both rallies emphasizing it's partnership in the struggle against discrimination and racism, and for full and equal civil rights. Ta'ayush activists then joined other groups for a protest in front of the "Ministery of Defence" in Tel-Aviv against the Government's war activities in the occupied territories.

יום האדמה הוא יום מאבקו של המיעוט הפלסטיני
בישראל למען שוויון זכויות. השנה החליטה ועדת המעקב העליונה לקיים
שני אירועים מרכזיים לציון יום זה. פעילי תעאיוש השתתפו בשני האירועים שהתקיימו,
האחד בכפר כנא שבגליל והשני בנגב, באוהל המחאה בסמוך לכביש
רהט-באר-שבע, כנגד מאבקה הממושך של ממשלת ישראל נגד אזרחי ישראל
הבדואים.
ממשלת ישראל נוהגת בתושבי הנגב הערבים, שאיבדו את רוב אדמותיהם וסובלים מאפליה
קשה, כזרים בביתם שלהם ומציגה אותם כחומסי אדמות המאיימים על אדמות המדינה.
הריסת בתים, ריסוס שדות חקלאיים והעברת "הסיירת הירוקה" לסמכות משרד התשתיות
מלמדים על הצפוי להתרחש.
פעילי תעאיוש השתתפו בשתי העצרות בכדי להדגיש את
השותפות במאבק נגד אפליה וגזענות ולמען
שוויון זכויות אזרחי מלא.
