בשבת, 2 ביולי 2005,
הצטרפנו, פעילות ופעילי תעאיוש, בשיתוף עם בת-שלום, קואליצית נשים לשלום, המרכז לאינפורמציה אלטרנטיבית, ואנרכיסטים נגד גדרות ליום עבודה משותף עם תושבי סילוואן בשכונת אל-בוסתן
שיפצנו
וניקינו אמת מים עתיקה המובילה חלק ממי מעיין השילוח, והקמנו לצידה גינה קטנה
שתשמש את תושבי שכונת אל בוסתן למשחק ולמנוחה. שמו של אזור הגינה בפי אנשי הכפר
הוא "אל תות" על שם עץ תות גדול שעמד שם בעבר אך איננו עוד. משום כך
בחרנו לשתול באמצע הגינה עץ תות חדש, בן חמש, שיחדש את ימי המקום כקדם. למרות
שאנשי המשטרה ופקחים למניהם אסרו עלינו להביא לגינה
אדמת גן ולהקים מחדש מעקה לאורך אמת המים, אותות עבודות הניקיון, הסיכול, בניית
הטראסות, ישור הקרקע והשתילה ניכרים היטב ב"גן התות" החדש של שכונת
אל-בוסתן. באותו
זמן נערכה באוהל המחאה של תושבי השכונה הפעלה לילדים. ביום הראשון לחופש הגדול
נמלא האוהל בצהלות ילדים, מופעי תאטרון, משחקים,
צבעים ומלאכת יד. על מנת לחזק את ידי
התושבים במאבק על בתיהם ועל זהותם, סייענו להם גם בתליית שלטים עם השמות המקוריים של רחובות וכיכרות בשכונה
בצידם של השמות העבריים החדשים שהעניקה להם עיריית ירושלים לאחר הכיבוש והסיפוח. שיתוף
הפעולה עם מאבקם של תושבי סילוואן רק התחיל.

On Sabbath, July 2 2005, we, Ta’ayush
activists, joined Bat-Shalom, the Coalition of Women for Peace,
the Alternative Information Center and Anarchists
against Fences for a joint work-day with the residents of Silwan in the al-Bustan neighborhood. We renovated and cleaned up an ancient aqueduct carrying part of the water of the ancient Shiloah Spring, and planted at its side a small garden to serve as play-ground and resting place for the residents of the al-Bustan neighborhood. The villagers call the area "Al Tut" (mulberry in Arabic) after a huge mulberry tree that used to stand there in the past. That is why we chose to plant in the middle of the garden a fresh, five-year old mulberry tree that will restore the place to its old days. Although the police and various inspectors forbade us to bring new garden-soil and re-erect a railing alongside the aqueduct, the effects of the cleaning work, stone clearing, terrace building, ground leveling and planting are clearly visible in the new "mulberry tree garden" of the al-Bustan neighborhood. At the same time in the residents' protest tent the children are being activated. On the first day of the school vacation the tent is brimming with the happy noises of children, games, paints and handicrafts. To bolster up the residents in the struggle for their homes and identity, we helped them post signs with the original names of streets and squares in the neighborhood side-by-side with the new Hebrew names given by the Jerusalem municipality after the occupation and annexation.
